Brewing news USA: Capital Brewery knocks America’s top beer brands for sole beer sponsorship at “Taste of Madison”

For the first time in the history of the “Taste of Madison” a local brewery’s selection will be the only beer offered at Madison’s festival showcasing area flavors.

Capital Brewery Company, named as the top brewery in America by the Beverage Tasting Institute of America in ’98, won the sole beer sponsorship at “Taste of Madison”. This edges out leading beer brands that have held the role since the festival’s inception twenty-three years ago.

For the first time in the history of the “Taste of Madison” a local brewery’s selection will be the only beer offered at Madison’s festival showcasing area flavors.

“No other beer brand can represent Madison like Capital Brewery,” stated Carl Nolen, president and CEO of Capital Brewery. “Our beers are the taste of Madison every day – not for just two days in September.”

Also making history will be the public debut of Capital Brewery’s newest ale, Island Wheat. The lightest of Capital Brewery’s selection, Island Wheat is refreshing but rich in flavor.

“Capital Brewery has created an enjoyable ale that is a great entrance to craft beers for those who normally prefer mass-produced light beers,” stated Nolen.

Island Wheat takes its name from wheat used in the ale and grown on Door County’s Washington Island. The island’s fertile landscape and moisture-rich climate makes for a high-quality wheat crop that is credited for the refreshing flavors found in Island Wheat.

Following its debut at the Taste of Madison, Island Wheat will be available in the Madison and Door County areas with statewide distribution starting in early 2006. Bottles will be available late next spring.

Capital Brewery Company, Inc. is a publicly-held company based in Middleton, Wisconsin. In addition to the new wheat ale, Capital Brewery brews seven annual, four seasonal and four limited release beers amounting to 17,000 barrels a year. In November 1998, it was named the top brewery in America by the Beverage Tasting Institute of America, an independent panel of international beer experts.
